On smaller bridges the timber beam ends are drilled with counter sunk fixing holes so as the anchor bolts and be installed directly thought the timber beam ends in to the concrete.On larger bridges galvanized angled brackets are used to provide a fixing at the bridge beam ends.
Also included in all kits is as damp proof membrane to be placed under the beam ends to facilitate a barrier between the timber and the concrete foundation. This will prevent any moisture being absorbed into the timber from the concrete, resulting in accelerated rotting of the timber.
